Hi!
Yesterday i buy a new an nvidia gforce4 mx440 to replace my old gforce2 (which works fine). When switching from X Windows to a text console or when killing the X server I get a (black) screen. When I switch to a text console
with [CTRL]+[ALT]+F1, for instance, I get a blank screen. I have to go
back to X with [CTRL]+[ALT]+F7 to have a working screen again.
I am using nvidia-glx-1.0.4191 and nvidia-kernel-1.0.4191-r1. I
experience the same problem with 1.0.3123.
Im not using any type of framebuffer support in the kernel and it is not an AGP problem (i try with "NvAGP" "0" and still not work).
Any sugestions?

Hi,
Did you happend to have the svideo cable connected to your tv-out ? I have that problem if i leave the cable connected, otherwise i can switch between X and the console. I am using the following kernel boot options in grub :

|
And i have a pretty functional framebuffer and X.
Hope these options solve your problem.
