D -> --deep
nel tuo world file non compare xorg perche' e' una dipendenza del tuo WM che probabilmente e' in world file. (ad es)
Con --deep consideri in modo ricorsivo tutte le dipendenze (e le dip delle dip delle dip delle dip.......)
e' un po da faq questo thread leon73

non ho capito se è il tuo caso ma ti volevo rassicurare che non serve mettere tutti i pacchetti installati dentro world.... anzi! direi che è fortemente sconsigliato!
La cosa migliore è avere dentro world solo i pacchetti "top" mentre tutte le dipendenze dovrebbero stare fuori (un pacchetto viene messo in world quando lanci emerge specificando il nome di un pacchetto... l'opzione --oneshot ti permette di evitare questo... ottimo quando si vuole ricompilare un pacchetto che è dipendenza di qualcosa in world)
unclepine (ottimo tool scritto da xchris) ti può dare una mano a snellire il tuo file world

scusa ma allora come faccio a vedere quali sono i pacchetti non-top da aggiornare??? finisce come e' successo a me che ti trovi mezzo sistema vecchio perche' non-top |

Infatti, basta aggiungere ad emerge l'opzione
