I have noticed a few threads where users have been shouting a lot
I dont mean to pick on just IWBCMAN but I have seen him do it a few times notable at https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=31519 and at
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=26787 (both times at the end of the thread I don't know how to link to individual messages). I wonder if it would be possible to disable these really large fonts, they truely aren't necessary and are just too tempting. |

Well, the Forum Guidlines don't currently address this directly. There's a little bit about trying to ask questions the nice way: Quote: | Ask Questions The Smart Way - If you are new to the internet, forums or the world of Linux, or if you just aren't sure what kinds of questions are okay to ask and how they should be phrased, then please read this document. It covers many of the same points as covered in this guide, but goes into far more detail and offers detailed explanations and suggestions. | Of course, rule #1 is also to use common sense. I guess I'm not quite as sensitive to shouting as others might be. However, we are more than happy to entertain thoughts, comments and suggestions on any new forum policies that may be needed. The question is simply one of how to enforce a rule like this fairly, and your suggestions are more than welcome. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

it seems like the simplest thing to do would just disable the font size large and huge options in the font selector. I think the only reason that people will use the larger fonts is because they don't know better and it is there. (I talked to the guy who had made these posts and asked him if in the future he could use the code tags which i think he just hadn't known anything about. I just cant imagine any legitimate use for a large or huge font size, so why present them as options. If someone really has a need it isnt that hard to just put a size=xx take in and make it as large as you want. |

Our approach on these forums is exactly the opposite. Things are pretty much left alone unless they prove to be problematic. So far, I haven't seen any indication that large font sizes are an endemic problem here on the forums, so I don't see a need to restrict people from using them.

They are probably more like punctuation, but I'm hardly one to talk about spelling and grammer. I leave that to the little old ladies of the world. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

I suppose I am just more sensitive to it and was browsing one of the few threads where this did come up. Perhaps we can designate this the scream all you like thread and all the moderators can release their anger in a controlled manner ;) |

Do not under any circumstances try your browser's magnifying <ctrl +> on this thread. I thought it was a good idea to help decipher Bloody Bastard's apologetic response, but then the browser window slipped by a few lines and his other message above blared right into my frontal lobes, and now I'm blind and dom&t rven lnow wgat I(m ttping hete. |

Heh...
Plate, you can't put in a warning saying "Don't do this....". You know I would try it out
It looked cool to just have a small part of the word all over my 1600x1200 screen!
At least i could verify that AA is working nicely!
Now... Where are my damn sunglasses?????
