For Windows there is WinRAR. It can extract data from a wide range of archives, but I'm not running Windows so that doesn't do me any good.
Unfortunately rar/unrar only handles rar-archives and not - as one would hope - all archives that WinRAR handles...
Does anyone know of any super-archiver that can read virtually every type of archive available? |

I don't know of an archiver itself, but mc (console), file-roller (gnome), and ark (kde) use helper programs so that you can manage all types of archives via a single interface. They call the helper programs, /usr/bin/unrar for example, behind the scenes |

I use ark, it's a plugin to konqueror which handles archives, but you need the various compressors installed on your system for it to recognize them. _________________ undvd - ripping dvds should be as simple as unzip |
