|
|
Hello
I just installed Gentoo, and my internet worked fine while installing. I neglected to emerge dhcp. Now, when I boot, I get the error
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
Starting eth0
Bringing up eth0
dhcp
ERROR: No Loaded Modules provide dhcp (dhcp_start)
I cannot emerge dhcp now because I am running off the network, and my computer cannot connect to the internet. How do I enable dhcp to allow me to do this?
Thanks

Well, you can boot from the livecd, remount all your partitions and chroot.
then:
and a correctly configured /etc/conf.d/net should do the job. |

A lot of people forget that one little step with their first install. |

finally i have been searching forever on how to correct this problem.
apparently this dhcpcd doesn't always install or something because i could not get rid of the dhcp error on boot.
now i can get back to happy emerging. _________________ if all else fails - format |

I think that is probably the most overlooked line in the install manual. It's amazing how often it is missed. |
