what's gonna happen if i switch the machine off w/o umont the drives?

I suppose the only problem could be if a drive was currently being written too when the power is turned off. It could potentially cause disk errors. I think the chance of that happening is quite slim, but it is safer in the long run to make sure all partitions are unmounted prior to powering off. The same rule applies to probably any OS. |
