UDP/SSDP ports (1900)

I am trying to make Twonkyvision's UPnP musicserver work and I'd like to know if UDP/SSDP port 1900 and 8080 is open in my system. If it is closed then I need to open it. How can I do this?

I've searched this forum and want to ask if the following command is the correct way to answer the above questions.

nmap -v -O -sS -p 1900,8080 192.168.2.5

How do I check to see if UDP port 1900 is open? If it is closed then how do I open it?
