I updated my package.keywords file to:
Code: | x11-wm/e -*
x11-plugins/e_modules -*
x11-misc/engage -*
x11-libs/ewl -*
x11-libs/evas -*
media-libs/imlib2 -*
media-libs/imlib2_loaders -*
dev-libs/eet -*
dev-db/edb -*
x11-libs/ecore -*
media-libs/etox -*
media-libs/edje -*
dev-libs/embryo -*
x11-libs/esmart -*
media-libs/epsilon -*
media-libs/epeg -*
app-misc/examine -*
net-news/erss -*
x11-misc/entrance -*
app-misc/evidence -*
media-libs/emotion -*
media-gfx/elicit -*
media-gfx/entice -*
dev-util/e_utils -*
dev-libs/engrave -*
media-video/eclair -*
|
and used this command to install E17:
Code: |
emerge -av eet edb evas ecore embryo imlib2 edje e epeg epsilon esmart entrance emotion eclair ewl engrave e_utils e_modules etox erss entice engage evidence |
and whenever I try starting it with GDM, a message comes up saying "Your session lasted less than ten seconds etc....". Is this happening because of the status of the CVS, or is it a problem with my installation?

I dont know how to start E with GDM, but you could try using entrance, the enlightenment login manager, and if all else fails you could Code: | xinit /usr/bin/enlightenment-0.17 |

I just installed e17 yesterday (09 Jul 2005) and I got that the very first time I tried to run it but then it worked after that. _________________ The strong must protect the Sweet. |

It's /etc/entrance_config.db, and you need to use something like edb_gtk_ed to edit it (it's in a binary form and needs to be edited with one of the edb tools). I haven't managed to get Entrance working by the way, it randomly crashes when loading E17 etc. _________________ Interested in E17? Get Enlightened by reading the user guide. |

I just made an executable whith the following in /etc/X11/Sessions and edited rc.conf to XSESSION=e
Code: | xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" &
enlightenment-0.17
|
Could put xscreensaver -no-splash in there i guess |

The name of this thread should rather be "Login manager problems with E17", since it's not really E17 related that much. _________________ Interested in E17? Get Enlightened by reading the user guide. |
