quickcam messenger amd64

I've looked at the other posts on this problem and followed everything in them but as they were for x86 and im using amd64 i dont think they were much help. i followed their guide anyway (although built qc-usb-messenger-0.8 by hand) and there were errors in the build- namely not finding any compatible cards at first and then having errors like this:

so as you can see its not working.

anyone on amd64 get this working?

[thought id start a new thread because that one is quite old and this is specifically amd64!)
