Hi Peoples,
New to Gentoo and enjoying the distro alot. Nice place you have here
I have a question regarding compiling a new kernel. I built the kernel when installing Gentoo, - as you do - and found to my delight that Gentoo automatically supports my pretend scsi device - a Fasttrack TX2 Promise Controller. I have never been able to support this manually before and am happily using it now.
What do I do in 6 months when I decide it is time to upgrade to a 2.6.12 kernel? How do I find out what Gentoo patched into the kernel to support the Promise TX2 scsi controller.
After many attempts to understand what I needed to patch, this is the closest I have come to figuring out what is needed.

aikidoist72,
Do Code: | emerge sync
emerge gentoo-sources | That will put 2.6.12 in your /usr/src directory.
You can have a look round with (or make xconfig)and see of your TX2 driver is there.
Worry about patching your own kernel if its not. These things don't ted to get removed though. _________________ Regards,
