|
|
Hello, I'm having some troubles with my gentoo router.
Basicly downloading from ftp.du.se from behind the router, I don't get faster speed than about 20k/s, downloading from the router I get around 650k/s, and Downloading from my laptop, directly connected to the internet I get 1.5M/s. I've followed the gentoo home router guide almost completly, I've only forwarded a few extra ports to various computers on the net. The router is a 450Mhz with 128M ram.
another odd thing is that when I download with bittorrent (azureus, limited to 250 connections) I can get at least 200k/s...
any help would be appreciated. |

How fast can you download from your router into your local net?
Hows the load on the router during download?
Sounds like a defective NIC for me, maybe a driver issue.
Try replacing it with another model. |

unfortunatly I don't have another nic to test with atm...
the cards I have in it right now is:
eth0 (LAN):
Code: | Bus 0, device 3, function 0:
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 16).
IRQ 5.
Master Capable. Latency=66. Min Gnt=32.Max Lat=64.
I/O at 0x2000 [0x20ff].
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0x41200000 [0x412000ff]. |
eth1 (WAN):
Code: | Bus 0, device 4, function 0:
Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c595 100BaseTX [Vortex] (rev 0).
IRQ 3.
Master Capable. Latency=248. Min Gnt=3.Max Lat=8.
I/O at 0x2880 [0x289f]. |
I'm going to try to change the cables to start with, if that doesn't solve the problem I'll probably better go looking for a new NIC.
Edit. To download from router to internal computer goes at at least 4.5M/s |
