recd a notification dated 02.53 today.

I replied to the thread but heard no more.

On revisiting the thread I see another reply but no notification was recd.

That was several hours ago , still no notify.

The notifications I am receiving have a null "To:" field, when it should contain my email address. Would it be too much trouble to correct that?

My particular problem is that my procmail scripts use the To field to determine how to handle my email, and it gets misrouted in this case. I could write some code to give special treatment to gentoo notifications, which would supercede the generic code that works for notification from other boards, but other users could be in the same situation.

Also, the Reply-To field is the same as the From field:
Code:

From: forum-mods@gentoo.org
Reply-To: forum-mods@gentoo.org
To:

It doesn't cause any problems, but it's extraneous.

A feature I've seen on other boards is to embed the body of the new message within the notification. I find it quite useful because it often saves me from loading a web page.

Then we would have to generate one reply notification e-mail for every user watching a thread instead of one e-mail with everyone Bcc:ed.

While I can appreciate your desire to have few and simple filtering rules, we have implemented a custom X-FGO-type header to make filtering of different types of notifications easier.

When multiple recipients are in the BCC field, your server still must generate a seperate reply per recipient, no? Or does it get sent to your ISPs mailserver for distribution?

I'll use that for a custom gentoo notification filter.

Here's the procmail code in case anyone is interested.

The point is that we don't have to do it in phpbb, but the mailserver does it for us.
