The LDAP server is configured to use TLS/SSL for encrypted transmisions, certificates are self signed. Now I have another box which i want to use as a client of the server. Ive set it up and its working but its unencrypted. What do I have to do to eneable TLS/SSL on the client?

You need to add

Code:
tls_reqcert             allow

to /etc/ldap.conf to allow self signed certs.
