No kde app toolbar icons as user, only root.

I just installed kde-3.4.1 and it seems to work fine but there were no icons on the toolbars for K applications when running as user, only as root. I can make them appear one by one if I use the "change icon" thingo, but something must be wrong for this to happen.

try to backup your ~/.kde* directories somewhere then delete them from your home directory and try to make new one by restarting kde.
