Hi everybody, it's me again with some new wireless problems 8) . I got my card (wg311v2) to work on my computer using ndiswrapper, but now I'm trying to make the same card to work on my roomate computer using acx100 (he has a amd64, so no ndiswrapper is possible there).

It is so very close to work. The main problem seems to be the association procedure. The card can scan the area and will (most of the time anyway) found the router. I say 'most of the time' because I sometime have to 'ifconfig wlan0 down; ifconfig wlan0 up' in order to have a succesfull scan. I also notice that I have more luck with the ad-hoc mode.

So here comes the bad part.

Code:

* Starting wlan0
*   Loading networking modules for wlan0
*     modules: iwconfig essidnet iptunnel ifconfig dhcpcd apipa
*       iwconfig provides wireless
*       ifconfig provides interface
*       dhcpcd provides dhcp
*   Configuring wireless network for wlan0
*     wlan0 connected to "devnull" at 00:00:00:00:00:00
*     in ad-hoc mode (WEP enabled - open)
*   Configuring wlan0 for "devnull" ...
*  Bringing up wlan0
*     dhcp
*       Running dhcpcd ...

And it stays there forever. If I set the card in Managed mode it fail at 'Configuring wireless network for wlan0'. I guess everybody sees the main problem: 'devnull' is obviously not at 00:00:00:00:00:00. This is weird because right after I start wlan0 I get this in dmesg:

Code:

So my question is why is the access point is being found (found and registered station: ESSID "devnull" on channel 11, BSSID 00:09:5b:d6:0e:38, Access Point, caps 0x0431, SIR 33, SNR 0) but then the driver decide it's not (acx_complete_dot11_scan: no matching station found in range, generating our own IBSSID instead)?

It seems to be a problem related to scanning. I have a *really* hard time to detect my router with 'iwlist wlan0 scan'. Most of the time, it says that it didn't not find any AP. Occasionally, it detects it after messing with a few settings (mode or rate) or after 'ifconfig wlan0 down; ifconfig wlan0 up' (this seems to reset the driver). I have tried various version of the driver (pf54->57) and changing some settings in /etc/conf.d.wireless (mostly operating mode, scanning mode and scanning delay). WEP is now disabled on both the router and our two machines. The cards is not sharing an IRQ with another device. Kernel version is 2.6.9-r9. I once successfully associate the cars with the AP so I know it's possible.

It really makes me mad not beign able to use this card after putting ~20 hours of my spare time on it. If anyone could give me some clues about making a netgear wg311v2 card working on a amd64 and the acx100 driver, I would be much appreciated.
