|
|
Hi all
I would like to install Gentoo but Im curios on which ISO to download? Im running a PC with Windows XP which is an OS I would love to ditch, but Ive also used Mandrake for about a year.
Is there a full install ISO I can download? Ive seen so many folders on the ftp that Ive become dizzy.
So can anyone help me out with this problem?

well, that all depends on how much you would like to compile from source, what your system specs (cpu type) are, and so forth.
so, tell us.... |

I don't mind compiling from source but I also don't want the hassle of downloading everything off the internet from a boot disk.
So I was just curious is there a full install ISO?
I'm using an AMD Duron 1Ghz processor, 512 SDRAM, NVIDIA Geforce 2, Audigy Sound Card, 40 gig hard drive. |

hmmm, the last idea i gave you (about the portage snapshot) was wrong, but the first should work.
just make sure you read the latest install docs on how to install the precompiled packages (they are call GRP's)
here is the link to the doc:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-install.xml
your welcome for the help |
