i own some isa and pci faxmodem cards and am interested in sending three image files (scans of a filled out aplication) as one fax letter to a faxnumber. the modem card that i want to use is for teh pci bus and is labeled "lucent winmodem". so the general question is, howto support the card and what proagram to use to send three or more images as one fax. thanx you

Well, first off, it's a Winmodem.
Look at www.linmodems.org for support and status of binary drivers.

Secondly, if you have a Lucent Mars chip, you're in luck - according to http://www.heby.de/ltmodem:
Quote:
LTModem is part of the gentoo package system, so you can just run "emerge ltmodem".

That takes care of modem support - it will also have fax capabilities.

Last, a simple Google for "linux fax" generates a host of options - check them out.

thank you, very good advice. you know people allways want to know which is "the best" program to perform something. i guess i try them out. theres but that littel problem: when emerging a tool to try it out it may occur that a bunch of other neccessary things is installed, too. but when unmerging the tool, the rest of not-needed stuff stays in place? if i could be sure that really everything that isnt used is removed after judging against a tool, i would try out them more...

btw, this modem card here seems to be a lucent mars 2 chipet.
