Hi,
I am trying to direct the sound output of amarok on my notebook at my desktop pc and its sound system. I found the NAS (Network Audio System), witch seems to be ideal for this task. It even has a gstremer plugin, with I wanted to use.
However, as Gentoo does not provide a gst-plugins-nas ebuild, I decided to write my own. This is my ebuild:

gst-plugins-nas-0.8.8.ebuild
Code:
# Copyright 1999-2005 Gentoo Foundation
# Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2
# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/media-plugins/gst-plugins-alsa/gst-plugins-alsa-0.8.8.ebuild,v 1.7 2005/05/02 05:27:46 vapier Exp $

inherit eutils gst-plugins

KEYWORDS="amd64 hppa ia64 ~mips ppc ppc64 sparc x86"
IUSE=""

DEPEND=">=media-libs/nas-1.7"

It merges fine, but gstreamer doesn't register the plugin, "gst-register-0.8 | grep nas" returns nothing. Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks,
Tony.

Have you checked so the plugin was installed into the correct directory?

Seems to be /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.8

Hi,
I have the same problem as the topic starter. Does anyone have a solution? :)

Ok, I found the solution myself.

The nassink does need X to work, but X is disabled by default. There is an ebuild on bugs.gentoo.org witch fixes this. Look here:
