I'm setting up my first mythtv box and I'm having problems with ivtv. I emerged it from the stock ebuild in portage. When I try to watch live tv in myth I get a black screen. /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log says

Code:

Error getting codec params
IVTV_IOC_G_CODEC:: Bad address

over and over until I kill the mythtv process
So I tried setting the codec params using

Code:

ivtvctl --set-codec-params=dnr_mode=0,dnr_temporal=0

And get back

Code:

ioctl: IVTV_IOC_S_CODEC
ioctl: IVTV_IOC_G_CODEC failed

"ivtvctl -p 4" and "ivtvctl -v input=3,output=1" also fail, while "/usr/local/bin/ivtvctl -u 0x3000" and "ivtvctl -f width=720,height=480" work.
Any ideas on what this could add up to?

You could take a look at C Kennedys work on the ivtv driver.
