hello picander!

i hope you had a nice week end at the sea :-)

as you recommended, i executed the command :

Code:
emerge kde-env

here is the exact content of the file /etc/env.d/99kde-env :
Quote:

KDEDIRS=/usr
CONFIG_PROTECT=/usr/share/config
KDE_MALLOC=1
#KDE_IS_PRELINKED=1

i have another question concerning gentoo. i think it could be related to my problem.
after
Code:
emerge kde-env

it was written :
Quote:

* IMPORTANT: 77 config files in /etc need updating.
* IMPORTANT: 2 config files in /usr/kde/3.4/share/config need updating.

what are these config files and why need i to update them ?

thanx a lot for your support!

"dispatch-conf" or "etc-update" is the command, you have to read the help files when emerge tells it's important.... try it now (tell him to try to automerge all)

You have to run it every time emerge tells there is a config file to be updated (you have now 77). Config files are files telling your system how to work....
