I am trying to make my Linux box into a wireless access point, as per the instructions on HOWTO Building a Wireless Access Point With Gentoo - Gentoo Linux Wiki. It seems to be working great, but I have one question. Is it possible to disable ESSID broadcasting with iwconfig in Master mode? If not, is there some other method to making an access point in linux that would support it? _________________ Help the Unanswered |

Disabling ESSID is highly dependent on the wireless hardware... If iwconfig cannot turn it on/off, then you don't have it. _________________ Clusters of Fry's Special, AMD 2200, 2 GB DDR, 220 GB (2008.1/desktop, stage 1, -O3) x8

I never said it couldn't, I merely asked how I would do it. _________________ Help the Unanswered |
