I have just activated framebuffer, and now I also wanna use bootsplash.
There are lots of HOW-TOs on this subject, but still I am uncertain about a couple of things.
In the "Gensplash in 5 easy steps" guide (http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/gensplash/archive/gensplash-in-5-easy-steps.txt), it says that I have to emerge gentoo-sources and compile it.
Why, I already used gentoo-sources when I install Gentoo. Why do I have to compile it again?
Also, where can I get good bootsplashes with Gentoo theme? I have tried kde-look, but the stuff there doesnt impress me much...
Thanks |

If you already have the gentoo-sources it should be ok.
There are loads of themes here: http://www.bootsplash.de/
when using gensplash you have to modify the .cfg files a bit because these themes are bootsplash themes.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks

very strange, but I get the bootsplash with the standard initrd, but not with the fbsplash initrd...
well, it works anyhow, so now i just have to figure out how to change it to something kewler
Code: | title=Gentoo Linux 2.6.12-r4
root (hd0,0)
kernel /kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r4 root=/dev/ram0 init=linuxrc ramdisk=8192 real_root=/dev/hda3 udev vga=0x31B video=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap splash=silent,theme:emergence CONSOLE=/dev/tty1
initrd /initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.12-gentoo-r4
#initrd /fbsplash-emergence-1280x1024 |
