Mplayer/Video? Where is brightness/audio sync delays stored?

I'm not really into hardware/software video properties, so if my questions seems ignorant, please forgive me.

Recently, when I watch a video in mplayer I've noticed a few things
- Audio/picture seems to be out of sync, usually by 0.2 seconds, no matter the file. Where would such a value be stored and how can I reset it to default? It's not in any mplayer.conf.

- When I alter hue/brightness/contrast values these persist between sessions. Where are these stored and how do I reset those?
