problems with emerge gnome

When doing an emerge gnome I get the following output:

Calculating dependencies
emerge: there are no masked or unmasked ebuilds to satisfy ">=dev-libs/lxml2-2.4".

!!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct.

I have done emerge rsync to make sure I'm using the latest tree. The only thing I noticed is that if I tried specifying certain gnome ebuilds, it would give this error on all except the gnome-1.4xxx ebuild. Anybody seen this? Thanks.
