I have an Athlon XP 1800 (~1500 mHz) and 1 gB DDR Ram (Kingston)
And somehow more than half of this memory seems to be filled ..
and i dont know why or which program / process needs so much memory ...
Im using openbox with a gnomepanel ... Opera, Gaim, XMMS and irssi ..

No offense but... ho many times it must be said that having free memory is weirder than not having it? Linux reserves ram for as many things as it can. And it puts as many stuff into ram as it can (that way things work faster). As long as your SWAP is fine you have nothing to worry about.

That's showing that you're using 677MB of which only 114MB is being used by programs with the rest being used by buffers and caches. That seems pretty normal. _________________ Andy. |
