Digikam only lists images under root.

Yes this is a stupid question probably but it only lists the images on my digital camera under root? It detects the camera itself on both root and my user though.

Is the camera connected using USB? If so, is your user login a member of the USB group?

Failed to connect to camera. Please make sure its connected properly and trned on.

If you're using gphoto there was a change in PAM that affected the hotplug script. Check in the forum or in bugs.gentoo.org for a fix to use group based hotplug script.

There is a gphoto script in my hotplug folder. I'm not sure what to do
