I just emerged rhythmbox. It plays mp3's fine but when I try to listen to internet radio stations I get the error: "No filename given.".

Any ideas what is wrong?

how do you insert the location?
For shoutcast radios, i save shoutcast.pls on my desktop, and then i import it as a new playlist.
If i got the ip, i simply add the location ...

When I add a new internet station I enter for the location for example for blue mars (www.bluemars.org)

http://207.200.96.225:8020/listen.pls

I also tried

http://207.200.96.225:8020/

But both entries give the same error.

This is with rhythmbox 0.8.8

Amarok plays these streams without problems

I don't really use Rhythmbox often, but I have it installed.

I loaded it and used the second URL you specified above (http://207.200.96.225:8020) in the Add Radio Station dialog. It played fine here (v0.8.8).

I mention this not to be a smartass but to let you know that Rhythmbox *can* play this station; I'm not sure what the problem is though. Try running Rhythmbox from a console, and see if you see any other errors when you go to play it.

If there's anything else I can tell you, let me know.

I am running:

rhythmbox 0.8.8-r1
libgnomeui 2.10.1
gtk+ 2.6.8
libbonobo 2.10.0
gst-plugins 0.8.10
gst-plugins-gnomevfs 0.8.10

BTW, this Blue Mars station is spacey. I kind of like it.

I have no idea what's wrong. I have the same problem for all internet radio stations in Rhythmboz.

Maybe a emerge sync & emerge -u world will cure this.

Update:

Problems solved after emerge -u world. A new version of gstreamer and gnome-desktop was compiled which solved a compatibility problem.
