For a while now, I don't seem to be able to install extensions into my copy of Firefox. It's taken me a while to start debugging this, and I have just updated to firefox-1.0.6 after previously using a variety of firefox-bin-1.0.X builds

Clicking on a link to install an extension pops up the time delayed box prompting to install the add-on. Clicking Install then brings up the Firefox extensions dialog, but with nothing in it...

I think the issue is a directory one, ie firefox is installing stuff into the wrong place, or reading from the wrong place...?

The new installed extensions seem to be listed in: ~/.mozilla/firefox/default.yh1/extensions/Extensions.rdf, but not in "installed-extensions.txt". Any ideas why? Should they be? There are a bunch of sub-directories with GUID like names in the the extensions directory and look like the extension that I wanted to install, but nothing is listed when I fire-up firefox...

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks

I don't think it's that because blowing away the ~/.mozilla directory has enabled me to start installing things again, so it looks like something corrupt. It's just a pain now trying to figure out how to copy over bits of my old profile manually

Anyone know how to copy over all the saved passwords from the old profile?

Thanks

I just emerge firefox-1.0.6 and when starting it up, it said all my previous extensions have been disabled
or blocked (forget which is was). Only had stumbleupon, and it is still there in extensions pull-down, but
don't seem to be able to use it.

Not sure how to re-enable it at this time though. But looks like it has something to do with the new firefox.
Just uninstalled and reinstalled stumbleupon and worked, same user/passwd also.
