problems with gphoto2 and kodak dx3600

I"ve been trying to get my camera to work now, and after browsing through a bunch of other stuff I'm still stuck.

I've emerged gphoto2 and i have hotplug working, as i can use my mp3 player, but I still can't get my camera to work.

When i try gphoto2 --shell and then ls I get the following:

lithium hotplug # gphoto2 --shell
gphoto2: {/etc/hotplug} /> ls

*** Error ***
Could not detect any camera
*** Error (-105: 'Unknown model') ***
gphoto2: {/etc/hotplug} />

when i try gphoto2 --auto-detect I get the following:

lithium hotplug # gphoto2 --auto-detect

I really need some help here, so anything will be appreciated.
