Not actually a good suggestion, but will definitely get rid of the adware or whatever got into ur system:
or better still Code: | mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozillabak |
BTW, iam curious at what infected ur system. Can you describe the symptoms? This is the first time that i have heard of adware for linux. Did you install any software outside portage that you heard of before?
You haven't been running firefox or pretty much working as root, have you ?
Do give me a link to get infected please. I really want to see how professional linux adware is _________________ /earth: file system full. |

One way to give your browser a good clean-out it is to unmerge then re-emerge it again. That *should* get you back to a clean installation, provided nothing else nasty has happened.
So try 'emerge -C firefox' (or firefox-bin if you've got the binary install) which should delete all the binaries and assocaited cache directories (I hope !!).
Then emerge firefox again - it should just go to the package in /usr/portage/distfiles so you won't have to download again (unless you want to get the latest version, in which case do an emerge sync first).
And yeah, if you know which site is doing it let us know. I'd be interested to see how it's attacking Linux/Firefox. Obviously higher class slime than the ones who attack Windoze boxes ! _________________ Rob Diamond

Are you sure its adware? I had a problem with Firefox awhile back displaying an adpage instead of my homepage on startup. Turned out that I had left the %u option off the start command in the launcher. _________________ Sarah Fish |

And sometimes this is a DNS thing. ISP routes unknown domains to a generic search page looking like adware. |
