Updating LDAP records - New Schema

Ok, so I was wanting to add some attributes to my users shadow accounts in LDAP, and I modified the nis schema to reflect the changes. Now, I can add the attributes to each one, but is there a way to do a mass update so as to have the fields show up in the users proporties. I can even fill the text with "..." just to have it visible, but adding each one to each person could take forever. Surly there is a better way...
