I have just noticed that

distfiles.gentoo.org
resolves to 140.211.166.134 and 156.56.247.195.

I was wondering wan't there a third one as well?

Something like 216.x.y.z ?

That machine may be down at the moment... There were a number of issues reported on #gentoo and these forums.. Quite a few people could not resolve to that third machine, so I suspect it has been taken off the rotation...
