Im going to be moving back into halls next year which means that I'm going to be connected to the local intranet. So I've been hardening up my computer so that some little #*!?'s dont get anywhere when they try and hack my computer.
So far I've been reading thought the Gentoo Security Handbook and the Gentoo IDS HOWTO which have been great, the last one is most probably over the top but it always helps to be a little paranoid.
My question concerns prelude and snort and is two fold. 1:I'm having trouble trying to configure the system so that it will monitor both my eth0 and wlan0 connections. 2: Since I will not know the IP address for the computer in the future and I would like to be able to set up these systems and leave to fill in the IP is there away for these programs to fill in the blanks or am I being too hopeful any help is very much appreciated.
