I am struggling with this card. I thought it was supported.

lspci output...
Network controller: Intersil Corporation Intersil ISL3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette] (rev 01)

Modules are loaded
prism54 55176 0
firmware_class 9088 1 prism54

iwconfig ..
eth1 NOT READY! ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Channel:0 Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Tx-Power=31 dBm Sensitivity=0/200
Retry min limit:0 RTS thr=0 B Fragment thr=0 B
Encryption key:off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
ifconfig eth1 ...

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:30:B4:00:00:00
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:21 Base address:0xc000

With iwconfig I can change the mode add a wep key and more but when I start it with

ifconfig eth1 up it gives me ..
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Timer expired

If I start it with net.eth1 it sets the key the lan ip but cant set the gateway.

Any direction would be appreciated. I have already read a ton of posts and googled this...

Newer prism54 cards use the "soft mac" chipset instead of the "full mac" one, and the "soft mac" is not supported for the moment (see that thread and check if you have the same error messages). Ndiswrapper should get it to work though.
