Since new ebuild for OpenAFS has become avialbale I got excited that I can install OpenAFS on my 2.6 gentoo, but I can't. It always throws an error message
Code:

gcc -pipe  -O2 -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/src/config -I. -I. -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/include -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/include/afs -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/include/rx -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82 -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/src -I/var/tmp/portage/openafs-1.3.82/work/openafs-1.3.82/src -DAFS_PTHREAD_ENV -pthread -D_REENTRANT -g -O2 -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -c rxstat_disable_peer.c

I am not a guru and all people surrounding me use RH and they have OpenAFS in its best form but I can't ask them what am I doind wrong. I would fix it probably if the message would have more information.... Has anybody installed AFS on its gentoo machine? What magic you use?

I suggest you try the latest openafs-ebuilds available in portage (currently openafs-1.4.0_rc3). They certainly aren't perfect yet, but they do work.
Currently the documentation is far from up to date wrt this new ebuilds (new path conventions mostly), so if you encounter problems migrating, let us know!
