Hello,
I'd like to know, how the users of Canon Ixus made to download photos on their computer?
I have emerge gthumb and connected may Canon Ixus on the USB port, but when i do File>Import a message says me that my cam wasn't detected.
I read that IXUS 400 isn't an USB Mass Storage device, so can you say me what i must do?

It may be easier to purchase a memory card reader, they are cheap and should work with USB enabled in the kernel.
You then only need to mount the reader and copy the photos to your hard drive. |

You have modprobed the usb drivers (uhci or ochi and echi) right?
If the GUI doesn't work, try the command. gphoto -P should grab all the pictures from the camera and save them in current dir. _________________ Don't mess with the Penguin. |

Exactly, the problem wasn't difficult, just modprobed the correct usb drivers. |
