Hi ;)
I have a strange problem: my external DVD burner (CIBOX 1016) works ok, excepting dvd recording speed. See the log:

What is the dmesg output when you attach the drive?

dmesg output looks good and I can't help you much further. But I recall that here in the forums there are some posts that describe and deal with that problem.
