Emerging pcmcia-cs problems

I'm at the stage where I have to emerge pcmcia-cs for 2.6 on an amd64. The error I get (which also occurs when I emerge x11) is:

x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2 failed.
Funciton build, line 974, exitcode 2
make World failed

Can anyone help and/or explain this error?

I don't think pcmcia-cs is needed for 32bit (cardbus) devices. You should be able to skip it, unless you are actually using older 16bit cards.
