|

I can't seem to find any pattern in what is going on on...when i start samba all is good, all the other machines can access it fine nmblookups work happily and all of my share/name mapping needs are taken care of very nicely.
after i turn my back on it for just long enough for the pixies to hack at my box it all collapses in a steaming heap on the floor.
the only part of the log i can find that looks suspicious enough is:
Code: | [2005/08/06 17:23:11, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:reload_interfaces(265)
reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to. Shutting down... |
when it works i can access everything from my other gentoo/mac/windows boxes fine, when it fails i have to put in the IP manualy and some actions like creating new files work, but do not appear to have worked until i do a refresh (i've only noticed that in windows, but it's probably general to all of them).
to restore it too working again i only have to go and restart the samba service, but i would like a proper fix, the config is essentially the same as the samba config on all my other gentoo boxes so maybe something else is wrong?
here is some probably irrelevant information:
Code: | servant / # uname -a
Linux servant 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 #1 Sun Jul 24 16:43:04 EST 2005 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) GenuineIntel GNU/Linux |
Code: | [ebuild R ] net-fs/samba-3.0.14a-r2 +acl -cups -doc -kerberos -ldap -libclamav -mysql -oav +pam -postgres -python -quotas +readline (-selinux) +winbind -xml -xml2 0 kB |
*patiently waits for someone to post that link he couldn't find in google's vast mind
p.s. excuse drunkenness of post |
