cups was working perfectly last Friday.
Today my secretaries can't print to our network Samsung laser printer.
cups has changed the default printer to an old bubble jet and will not permit
the root user to reset the default printer to the samsung laser printer.
When the root administrator logs onto http://localhost:631/admin and
tries to enable default printing on the network laser printer cups gives
the following message:
You don't have permission to access the resource on this server.
I'm logged in as root for pete's sake.
I can log onto the samsung printer and print its test suite, etc. so
the laser printer is functioning perfectly. Just cups won't let me
set it as default printer, or even start it.
PLEASE HELP. |

SOLVED!
I used kdeprint manager to enable printing to the Samsung laser printer.
I'm not sure why cups wouldn't allow me to enable the Samsung printer.
Unless the printer was created by kdeprint and somehow that precluded
administration by cups (even though printing is through cups)
The printer had been turned off over the weekend and I suppose
kdeprint sensed that the printer was off and therefore it disabled it.
AGGRAVATING!! |
