I cannot seem to to get this gentoo install to ever install easily for me lol. I'm doing a gentoo install, stage 3, and when I reached the instructions to do an "emerge -sync" I get the error, "Emerge: Command Not Found"

My first thought was not chrooted, but I don't know why that would make a difference. My internet connection is working fine, and i'm posting this through links inside my installation :) I do have a portage on the CD, but I'd prefer to have something not 2 years old hehe. Any ideas? Thankyou

Are you sure you typed "emerge sync" and not "Emerge sync"?

check if emerge exists in /usr/bin/ if not you have to reinstall your stage tarball correct.

If it exists you might not have switched correctly to your new enviroment

Code:
# chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
# env-update
 * Caching service dependencies...
# source /etc/profile

hmm, I'm not doing the GRP install, and I couldn't find any instructions saying to chroot that weren't underneath the "grp install" section....

I'm going to try it now tho :) thx
