Enigmail/Enigmime service not available - SOLVED

I had the Enigmail/Enigmime service not available problem that is discussed elsewhere on the forums, but I was never able to reach a solution until today. It turns out to be operator error. I wanted to share my experience here in case someone else found themselves in the same boat.

The real problem wasn't the Thunderbird 1.0.5 problem or the old Enigmail problem or even a permissions problem with the gpg binary. It was an error in my fstab. I didn't have defaults (or exec) set for the / partition. (Always install Gentoo in the beginning of the week, not after working too many hours.)

I wonder how many other problems that caused that I never discovered? Oh well. I hope somebody learns from my mistakes.
