dma with cdrom[solved]

HI
I got problem playing dvd with xine. it has regular freeze picture and sound xine touble shooting said need to enable dma, but when i do that i got

JamesComputer james # hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc

/dev/hdc:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)

when i enable udma it fine

but still having same problem. do i need to recompile kernel. if so, how to do it and what should i enable it. my wheel mouse doesnt work either, so i dont mind recompiling it.

Ok , now my dma is on after recompiling with right chip (sis 5513), but after recompling no sound, for some how, it was there before .. anyone?
suggestion?

ok, working now, dont really know how it happened, i just muted IEC958C from alsa mixer..
