Merged above three posts here.
The cd is experimental, so not supported by Gentoo and not guaranteed to work. But perhaps somebody here will help you anyway. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

hi!
I have exactly the same problem, but what do you mean with "update and restart"? Shall i close the installer, reboot my computer and restart the install again?
Code: | GLI: February 18 2006 06:10:50 - Starting emerge dev-libs/pth-1.4.0
GLI: February 18 2006 06:10:50 - Calling emerge: emerge -k -1 =dev-libs/pth-1.4.0 |

ok, i restarted the computer and tried - again - both graphical installer and commandline-installer.
The Graphical installer hangs at the same point, the commandline-installer hangs at 88%
Yet oth installers still eat 100% Processor-Recources, still nothing happened the last 5 hours. Why?

by 'commandline-installer' I'm assuming you mean the official installation method of following the handbook after untarring a stage 3 tarball, rather than the installer that is AFAIK still alpha software... |

Hi!
By "command line installer" i mean the link, which appears on the Desktop of the live-cd and which is called "Gentoo Linux Installer (Command Line)"
it seems th be the same as the graphical installer though... |

Desktop? Link? Is this the standard install media from gentoo.org??? Who are these people and what did they do with the nice clean no gui live CD ???
(I normally just boot whatever knoppix/ubuntu/whatever live CD I find laying around and go from there so haven't booted an 'official' gentoo release CD since 2004.1 I think) |

Hello
I am on RR64 DVD just now. The installer work 100%
i hav used it for a stage 3 install 3 times with no errorws. just go on the netless install option. later you can update your system. and install any kernel. and try the dvd to hd option it will giv you a working system in a h.

|
|
Hi, I've searched a lot & found few 'success stories' with regard to the 2006.0 GLI. I just (4/04/06) downloaded, burned & installed from the 2006.0 LiveCD. My only hangup was unconfigured wireless (gentoo just cant get it for the Gateway Solo 9550, but Knoppix & Fedora 4+ can). It did find the device though, which is an improvement. Now to the point:
If you want the installer I downloaded to work, just dont create any users and follow the rest of the instructions. I checked most all of the boxes that were offered (no extra alsa...etc) and it worked. Probably a bug?
[I'll gladly post the xml if anyone cares. Maybe we can diff them?]
thanks for the huge time saver!
