Mobo: Asus A8V-E DELUXE

Im used to use init 0 to shut down my computer, but now when i do it, the system would actually restart even though it says "Power down" in the end of linux shut down process.

EDIT: just tested it in FreeBSD and the problem is NOT happening there. Perhaps but in Linux ACPI?

The Linux ACPI interpreter is very strict with respect to what it accepts. There are a lot of broken DSDTs that don't work in Linux but work in Windows. I don't know what FreeBSD uses for ACPI, but maybe it's less strict.

You can try to check your DSDT. Maybe the DSDT that came with the new BIOS is broken.

the problem turned out to be mm-sources broken ACPI. :)
