|
|
Currently I'm setup with KDE 3.5 and Konquerer - Modular X Org 7 -
The only issue I've run into on a regular basis is that I can not delete directories or folders with Konquerer.
If I try to move a folder to the trash (full or empty folder) I get a pop-up dialog saying that Trash can not deal with file type 'folder'.
If I highlight a directory to be deleted and press delete or the red X delete button in the menu-bar, nothing happens.
Of course the directories can be removed via command line, and the directories that I am trying to delete were created by my user as well - I'm not trying to delete /root or directories created/owned by other users.
Is there a configuration option that I can set as myself or as root that will allow for directories to be deleted?
Do I need a different file manager?
Any help is appreciated. |

well, that's weird.
i'm using kde 3.5 and xorg7, too, but don't have this issue.
can you delete stuff via konsole? (rm -r folder)
it could also be that the mime types are messed up or something like that.
try this: log into a vt after you logged off kde, then loggin with your user,
move your ~/.kde folder to something else, and then login again. maybe the kde didn't update properly. |

Weird indeed. This shouldn't be a problem. If you run konqueror from a console, is there any more enlightening error output if you try to delete a folder? |

I thought it was strange - I didn't remember the issue with my previous Gentoo install.
I moved the .kde folder and when it was rebuilt stuff started working.
Good trick, thanks for the suggestion and help. |
