Does the 2005.1 installer support booting from a serial ATA optical drive? I've been scouring the internet looking for a LiveCD that does support this, and I haven't had any luck so far. _________________ Wanna get hold of me? PM's the best way. |

u can boot on sata drive with the ubuntu live-cd, that's actually how i rescue my system after doing very bad things..
My motherboard is an nforce2, the gentoo install cd just can't load the sata_nv module, but ubuntu cd do it just fine;)

I booted from a SATA DVD-drive. What is the problem you encountered? Didn't it find the CD in the drive? Or did it find it but gave errors upon boot? I added doscsi to the kernel command line to make sure it catched all modules. |

Thanks guys for the fast answers
I will try both aproaches to this problem, lamely I forgot about the doscsi parameter , but it is nice to hear about others livecds that can boot directly from a sata optical drive, specially qhen my plans are installing via another distro so I can use the pc while gentoo compiles
Thanks for the help one more time.
