Hi, I just emerged the 7676 drivers from portage and I'm trying to get them to work.
The emerge was successfull, then I did an opengl-update nvidia - sucess.
I tried to load up gdm, and xserver gives me the error module nvidia doesn't exist.
I tried modprobe nvidia, it also says the module doesn't exist.
Am I missing a step? It used to be as simple as that... |

Hi
first of all check if you have symlink to your linux sources like linux -> linux-2.6.13 or something, if you recently recompiled kernel check if you didn't enable - kernel hacking - Use 4Kb for kernel stacks instead of 8Kb
then reemerge nvidia-kernel watch messages for errors if none check if there is /lib/modules/kernel-version/video/nvidia.ko
modprobe nvidia and check your xorg.conf for Driver "nvidia"
good luck! _________________ “You know all those extra lines of code that we sometimes refer to as bloatware. It's actually very important and efficient stuff. There is some very substantial functionality built into the operating system.” Laura DiDio |

it was exactly that, my symlink was pointing at the wrong kernel source. Crap, should've saw that. Thanks for the heads-up! |
