Automounting USB Drives stopped working =[

I do not know where to begin in fixing this problem or supplying the correct information... but here it goes.

I installed Gentoo about 3 months ago and have had the luxery of having removable media mount automatically. When I would connect either my camera or my USB stick it would pop up on the desktop and everythign would go fine. Then tonight when I tried connecting the camera nothing happened. I have to mount the device manually and then as a normal user I cannot view/access the files correctly. This happend on both my USB stick and Camera both connected via USB. As root I can view/access the files correctly. I tried rebooting to see if that fixes it with no luck.

I am running Gentoo 2005.0 Stage 3 install and use Gnome. The settings are correclty setup to automount removable media. HAL Daemon is running (which I think controls this sorta thing).

I can give any other information needed to help diagnose this problem.
