Hi everyone. Now that I have hardware compositing on my desktop, I thought I'd search out an application that behave similar to the Mac's launcher bar - at least in that the icons scale on the rollover. It's just so pretty!!! No real use however...

The yab desklet for adesklets will do that for you. Never seen the mac one so I don't know if it's exactly the same, but at least the yab thingy does what you describe.
There is an app called engage that looks really nifty, but I haven't tried it myself.

Thanks for the quick reply, I've emerge adesklets, but what package do the desklets themselves come in? I can't seem to find the proper ebuild...

You have to get them yourself. http://adesklets.sf.net/desklets.html
There's info on how to use them on the site.

I played with the same thought en ended up with a program called kxdocker. It's originally KDE but it;s working perfectly with fvwm and gnome. Just search for the name

If your on KDE, kxdocker is worth a shot. Or maybe KSmoothDock is more to your needs.
